Late Sri.Attru M Chowdiah born on 18th march 1923 in kollegal town and finished his primary and high school in kollegal town. Completed his intermediate in arts and science, , c.d. College, anantapur, andra pradesh, 1941-1942. He completed his bachelors degree at Madras engineering college, madras university, guindy between 1942-1945, He obtained a.m.s. Degree in civil engineering, michigan state university, east lansing michigan,1947-1949 and ph.d. Civil engineering, michigan state university, east lansing michigan.1962-1965.

Upto 1966 During 1945-1947, he worked at government of central provinces and behar, pwd,associate professor of civil engineering, aligarh muslim university, aligarh, up, 1950-1955.

Later he moved to new capital of punjab, india, worked in punjab engineering college, chandigarh, punjab, as assistant engineer,during1955-1966. In 1962 he was given a scholarship again to michigan state university, east lansing ,michigan. He completed his ph.d., civil engineering,in 1965 and returned to his previous job in punjab engineering college, chandigarh.. He completed 1 year in 1966, and moved to mayaguez, puerto rico, to teach as assistant professor of civil engineering. There he worked from 1966 to 1978 to detroit usa, he worked in the us. Army corps of engineers for the next 30 years, in several locations-like los angeles, california, seoul, korea, panama, seoul again, back to los angeles, then in turquey 2005-2007, back to los angeles, and finally retired on 3 june 2008. After working more than 63 years he returned to his soil to spend his last days . After a brief stay of 6 months he breath his last on may 2010 at kollegal.
